A creative sanctuary born out of community need and cultural pride. We believe every young person deserves access to artistic tools, mentorship, and a space to freely express themselves. From photography and podcasting to dance and fashion, our programs help youth discover their voices, develop their skills, and step boldly into their futures.

A PLACE TO BE

New Harlem Renaissance (NHR) began as a response to the lack of creative spaces for youth in our neighborhood. When a request for a teen photography workshop was denied, our founder Omar Thompson took action. Inspired by the transformative impact of the arts on his own children, Omar launched NHR to empower young people through creativity.

At NHR, our mission is to serve as Harlem's creative nucleus, nurturing artistic expression, and empowering the next generation of artists. We provide world-class facilities and diverse services, fostering collaboration and access to the arts. Together, we're reshaping Harlem through a vibrant tapestry of culture.
